What kind of scaffolding do you need?

Access and egress is how crews get onto a platform and off it safely. OSHA requires a safe way up and down whenever a working level sits more than a couple of feet off the ground, and the route cannot be climbing the frame cross-braces. Ladders, stair towers, ramps, and gangways all fall under access and egress, and getting them right keeps a jobsite both legal and fast.

Why access and egress is its own job

People fall getting on and off scaffolds more than almost any other moment. That is why the route matters as much as the platform. A dedicated access plan gives every worker a clear, rated path up, a safe way to move between levels, and a fast exit in an emergency. It also keeps other trades and inspectors moving through the site without improvising a climb.

The pieces we supply

Built-in ladders serve quick, low platforms. A stair tower handles heavy foot traffic and material carrying on multi-level work. Ramps and gangways bridge gaps, cross openings, and give wheelbarrow and cart access. On uneven or raised ground we add landings and platforms so the transition from grade to scaffold is clean. Each piece is rated, guarded, and inspected.

Planned around your site

We plan access around how the crew actually works: where they enter, how material moves, and where the exits need to be. On a stationary scaffold that means tying the stairs and ladders into the run at the right points. On suspended or high work it means safe transitions at the roofline. We tag every access point once it passes inspection so the crew knows it is cleared.

Access & Egress Scaffold, FAQs

What counts as access and egress on a scaffold?

Any built route on and off the platform: ladders, stair towers, ramps, gangways, and landings. Climbing the frame or cross-braces does not count and is not allowed.

When is safe access required?

OSHA requires a safe way up and down whenever a platform is more than about two feet above or below the point of access. The route has to be built for the purpose, not improvised.

What is the best access for a busy multi-level job?

A stair tower. It carries heavy foot traffic and material, moves crews quickly, and gives a clear emergency exit, which ladders cannot match on multi-story work.

Can you add access to an existing scaffold?

Yes. We plan and add ladders, stairs, ramps, or gangways to fit how your crew enters and moves material, then inspect and tag each access point.
