Shoring holds weight. Where a scaffold supports people and their tools so they can reach the work, shoring supports the structure itself, the wet concrete, the formwork, the slab, or the beam that is not yet self-supporting. It is load-rated, engineered equipment, and getting it right is a structural question, not a convenience one.
Shoring is not scaffolding
This is the distinction that matters. A scaffold is an access platform, rated for workers and light material. Shoring is a support system, rated for the heavy, sustained load of a structure under construction. Using one in place of the other is dangerous. When a slab has to be held up while concrete cures, or a beam needs support during a repair, the job needs shoring designed for that load.
Types we supply
Post shores are adjustable single columns for lighter formwork and quick repairs. Frame shoring stacks into towers that carry heavy deck and slab loads over a wide area. Heavy-duty shoring towers handle bridge and large commercial pours. Reshoring holds a freshly stripped slab while it gains full strength. We match the system to the load, the height, and the pour schedule, and we supply the layout drawings your engineer signs off on.
Engineering and load ratings
Every shoring plan starts with the load. We work from the engineered layout, the concrete weight, and the pour sequence to spec the right towers, spacing, and bracing. Shoring stays in place until the structure reaches the strength the engineer specifies, then comes down in the right order. For access to the same pour, crews use a separate stationary scaffold rather than climbing the shoring. Our scaffold engineering team can help develop the plan.

Shoring, FAQs
What is the difference between shoring and scaffolding?
Scaffolding is an access platform for workers and light material. Shoring is a load-bearing support system for the structure itself, such as formwork and curing concrete. They are rated for very different loads and are not interchangeable.
What types of shoring do you rent?
Adjustable post shores for lighter formwork, frame shoring towers for heavy slab and deck loads, heavy-duty towers for large pours, and reshoring for freshly stripped slabs.
Does shoring need engineering?
Yes. Shoring is designed around the load, the concrete weight, and the pour sequence. We work from an engineered layout and provide drawings for your engineer to approve.
How long does shoring stay in place?
Until the structure reaches the strength the engineer specifies. It is then removed in the correct order, often with reshoring in between to protect the young slab.
