A shrink wrap scaffold is a standard scaffold clad in tight plastic sheeting or netting. The wrap turns an open frame into an enclosed work zone, which does two jobs at once: it keeps weather, wind, and sun off the work, and it keeps paint overspray, blast grit, and dust from drifting off the site. On painting, abrasive blasting, and restoration jobs, containment is often required, not optional.
Containment and weather protection in one
Wrap the scaffold and you control the environment inside it. Crews keep painting, sealing, or blasting when wind would otherwise stop them, and the finish cures clean without dust settling into it. Just as important, the wrap stops the mess from leaving. Overspray does not land on the neighbor cars, and blast media and old coatings stay contained for proper disposal, which regulators expect on lead and hazardous-coating work.
Shrink wrap versus netting
Full shrink wrap, heat-tightened over the frame, gives the most complete seal for weather and full containment. Debris netting is lighter and breathable, good for catching larger falling material and reducing wind while keeping airflow. We match the covering to the job: tight wrap for coatings and abatement, netting where the goal is falling-debris protection and partial wind control. Both go over the same solid stationary scaffold frame.
What it is used for
Exterior repaints that cannot tolerate overspray drift, abrasive blasting and recoating on steel and concrete, lead and hazardous-coating abatement, and restoration work that has to stay dry. The enclosure loads the scaffold with wind, so we brace and tie it more heavily than a bare frame and inspect the wrap through the job. Overhead public areas still get a pedestrian canopy below.

Shrink Wrap Scaffold, FAQs
What is a shrink wrap scaffold?
It is a scaffold clad in tight plastic sheeting or netting that encloses the work zone. It keeps weather off the work and contains overspray, blast grit, and dust so they do not leave the site.
Why enclose a scaffold?
To control the work environment and contain the mess. Crews keep working in wind, finishes cure clean, and paint overspray, blast media, and old coatings stay on site for proper disposal.
What is the difference between shrink wrap and debris netting?
Shrink wrap is heat-tightened for a near-complete seal, best for coatings and abatement. Netting is lighter and breathable, best for catching falling debris and cutting wind while keeping airflow.
Does the wrap affect scaffold stability?
Yes. An enclosure catches wind, so we brace and tie the frame more heavily than a bare scaffold and inspect the covering throughout the job.
